Dr. Ignace Gatare

Dr. Ignace GATARE is the Principal at the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology .

He served in the Government of Rwanda as Director General of the Rwanda National Commission of Science and Technology(2012-2017) and Minister in Charge of ICT (2009-2012).

He received his undergraduate (2001) and Master’s (2004) degrees in Electrical Engineering (major in Telecommunications) from the Mons Engineering Faculty (FPMs), Belgium. He holds a PhD degree in Engineering Sciences with specialization in Photonics from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), where he worked as a research fellow.

He is member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Founding Member of the Rwanda Academy of Sciences.
