Participants from different institutions across the country attended the second cohort of the 10-day training on “Procurement in World Bank–Financed Operations.” The program brings together procurement officers from various sectors and is jointly organized by the College of Business and Economics, with technical support from the World Bank.
The training was officially opened by Sahr Kpundeh, the World Bank Country Manager, and Dr. Joseph Nkurunziza, Principal of the College of Business and Economics.

In his remarks, Sahr Kpundeh praised the College for its strong expertise in procurement and supply chain management. He noted that this partnership was strengthened by the success of the first training session held in 2024, where participants gave highly positive feedback.
“Participants from the first session specifically asked that the program be expanded to reach more colleagues ; and we listened,” he said.
During the training, participants gained advanced skills in contract management, procurement methods and planning, procurement timelines, compliance and quality assurance, and review requirements. This marks another important step in improving procurement practices in Rwanda and the region.
The World Bank currently supports 24 projects in Rwanda, with commitments of more than 3 billion, covering key sectors such as health, energy, transport, urban development, social protection, agriculture, education, and digitalization.
