I am writing on behalf of our project team to invite you to take part in an interview as part of a research project titled : Case Studies of the Political Economy of Science Granting Councils in Sub-Saharan Africa. The interview, which will last not more than 1hr, will take place virtually between 9 May and 30 June 2022. We hope you will be available on a date that suits you in this period.

The research project is being carried out by a team of researchers across three universities : University College London, University of Rwanda and University of Johannesburg. The political economy analysis study, as part of the third phase of the multi-funder Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI) in Sub-Saharan Africa, seeks to gather your insight and expertise in relation to the SGCI in order to inform SGCI programming through a nuanced analysis of :

· National research and innovation ecosystems

· Regional and international context with reference to the SGCI thematic areas

Participation is voluntary. If you agree to participate, we will contact you individually with more detailed information about the study and to arrange a time to speak.

We hope that you will be interested in taking part in this project, and if you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact Dr Julius Mugwagwa (j.mugwagwa@ucl.ac.uk), Principal Investigator of the research.

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this.

Kind regards,
