The launch event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Swedish Embassy in Rwanda, and the European Union, marking a key milestone in Rwanda’s growing investment in science, research, and innovation. The celebration also recognized the first cohort of MSc Biotechnology graduates, whose success reflects Rwanda’s commitment to building a strong foundation in biotechnology and human capital development.
Led by Professor Leon Mutesa, Director of the Centre for Human Genetics at UR, the MAV+ Project has already made major strides with the accreditation of two new academic programs ; a MSc in Clinical Trials and a PhD in Translational Health Sciences. These programs aim to equip Rwandan scientists and researchers with the advanced skills needed to drive innovation in biomedical and pharmaceutical industries.
