The University of Rwanda has been ranked top in the education sector at the Third Financial Reporting and Excellence Awards (FREA 2025), held under the theme “Beyond Numbers : Reporting with Purpose and Impact.” Organized by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR), FREA 2025 recognizes institutions that exhibit high standards of transparency, accountability, and innovation in financial reporting.

The awards ceremony took place on September 26 at Paramount Hotel, Kicukiro, drawing participants from government, private entities, academia and civil society. UR’s standout performance is the result of a sustained, five-year effort to strengthen internal controls, streamline reporting processes, and align financial systems with global standards.
In celebrating this achievement, Ms Françoise Kayitare Tengera, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance, said :
“This recognition is a reflection of the continuous commitment and discipline by our finance and administrative teams. It underscores UR’s resolve to maintain excellence in governance and to build public confidence in our operations.”
ICPAR officials at the event emphasized the importance of rigorous financial reporting as a cornerstone for institutional credibility, resource mobilization, and sustainable growth.
