Student Registration

The Management of the University of Rwanda is delighted to inform all students of the following:

1. Online Registration for 2016-2017 Academic Year

You will be invited to register online this week and you should start preparing now. Guidelines for online registration can be obtained from the UR website (Link found at the bottom of this notice).

In case you experience any system related challenges, please contact your respective College Registrars.

2. Required fees

Fees are to be paid into the UR Account No: 00094-0637830-21 (FRW) UR INTERNAL REVENUES in Bank of Kigali. You must use your UR student number as it appears on the acceptance letter

2.1.     Continuing students are required to pay the following fees in order to be registered: registration fees 25,000 Frw; Medical Insurance 7,000 Frw, Life Insurance 2,000 Frw, Student Union 1,000 Frw; totaling 35,000 Frw.

Students fully sponsored by the Government are required to pay only 35,000 Frw.

 2.2.    All other students must pay at least the first installment of tuition fees of 112,500 Frw for STEM programmes (those in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) and 75,000 Frw for Non-STEM programmes.

2.3.     New students are required to pay the following fees in order to be registered: Registration and Administrative fee 50,000 Frw (non-refundable); Medical Insurance 7,000 Frw, Life Insurance 2000 Frw, Student Union 1000 Frw; application fees 5000 Frw; totaling to 65,000 Frw.

 Students fully sponsored by Government are required to pay only 65,000 Frw.

All other students must pay at least the first installment of tuition fees of  112,500 Frw for STEM programmes and 75,000 Frw for Non-STEM programmes.

Those who have already paid 5,000 Frw for application fees you will not be charged this again.

Non-Rwandan and Non-EAC students should refer to the fee structure for the applicable fees.

3. Required documents for new students

After completing online registration, new students are also required to submit to their respective College Registrar offices, the following documents:

  1. A certified copy of an Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalence for students whose certificates were obtained from outside of Rwanda.
  2. A copy of the acceptance letter.
  3. One copy of a National Identity Card or Passport.
  4. Two recent passport size colour photographs.
  5. Proof of payment of required fees.
  6. A completed registration form.

4.  Orientation and Induction for New students 

Colleges will start to receive new students from 29th August 2016 and Lectures will start from 5th September 2016

Induction and orientation activities shall begin on 31st August 2016 and shall continue through the Semester.
