Facts & Figures


This report is a consolidation of information from the University Entities. It provides the institutional statistics since its establishment in 2013. It reports thematic arears predefined by International Standard Classification of Education as per the University structures and mandate. It aims at providing statistics that contribute at measuring achievements ofthe University at various scales.

Statistics show that, University of Rwanda graduated the total number of 64,087 with 48.36% graduates from Non-STEM and 51.64% in STEM areas respectively ; 36.54% of graduates are females and 63.46% are males from the total enrolment of 43% students registered in Non-STEM and 57% in STEM areas respectively with female students present 34.71% and 65.29% stands for male students. Undergraduate programmes dominate with 94.21% and 83% of the total enrolment is financially supported by Government of Rwanda.

The total number of publications from staff since 2013is 2,807 from 308 publications in 2014 predominantly by publications fromSTEM Colleges with85%.The University personnel decreased from 2,367 in 2013 to 1,962staffin 2022. On one hand, the total population of staffshows that 67.9% areacademics and 32.1% administrative staff.On the other hand,24.7% are females’ academic staff out of75.3% male. For administrative and support staff side 60.9% staff presents males and 39.1% females.In terms of contract terms, 80.6% of academicare permanent vis-à-vis 86.9% permanent administrative staff. The number of Academic Staff with PhD increased from 18% to 35.2% in 2022.
