Dr. Florien Nsanganwimana holds a PhD in Applied Botany to Geosciences and Ecology from the University of Lille1 (France, 2014), and a Postgraduate Certificate for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from UR-CE, 2016. He also holds a Master’s degree in Ecology from the University of Bordeaux1, France, 2011, and Bachelor of Science in Biology Education from the Kigali Institute of Education, 2005. He is a qualified teacher with related qualifications in Primary, Secondary and Higher Education.
Dr. Nsanganwimana has a broad knowledge of educational leadership
Prior to his appointment he was Head of Research at the African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACE-ITLMS) ; Vice-Chair of Research Committee of UR-CE, Chair of Research Committee of ACE-ITLMS ; and Deputy Team Leader of the Quality Basic Education for Human Capital Development (QBEHCD) project, Subcomponent 1.2 focusing on STEM instruction in Upper Primary and Lower Secondary Education. He is also the UR-CE nominated e-learning champion and has been very instrumental in organizing trainings related to online teaching and learning for academic staff. Dr. Nsanganwimana has contributed significantly to a number of trainings in continuous professional development programmes for both pre- and in-service STEM teachers in Rwanda in the projects which aim at consolidating and upgrading teachers’ pedagogical skills and content knowledge for effective implementation of Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC). He joined the former Institute of Education-KIE, now UR College of Education as an academic staff in 2007.
In Addition to his teaching qualification, Dr. Nsanganwimana has also wide experience in research planning and management. His areas of interest in science education pertains to topics such as implementation of Learner-Centred Pedagogy (LCP) in teaching and learning Sciences in higher education, online teaching and learning, Effective teaching, integration of ICT in Science Education, Blended and Flipped learning and Environmental Science Education. Other areas of keen interest include sustainable management of degraded and polluted ecosystems, mining impacts assessment and management of invasive aquatic plants.

Biography :
Abraham Haileamlak Mitike is a Professor in Pediatrics and completed additional training in pediatric cardiology in Israel at the Wolfson Medical Center (WMC). He has initiated, in cooperation with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, the construction of a new hospital which will include the first pediatric cardiac center in Jimma, Ethiopia. He has been a consultant in the Ministry of Health, Ethiopia. He also served as the Vice-President of Jimma University, Ethiopia for six years ; as Jimma University, College of Public Health and Medical Sciences (CPHMS) Head of Faculty for five years ; as the University professor for Seven years.

Dr. Joseph Nkurunziza serves as the Acting Principal of the College of Business and Economics at the University of Rwanda. He is also a Lecturer in the department of Applied Statistics.
Dr. Joseph Nkurunziza is Statistician with a broad interest in Applied Statistics for economics, policy analysis and development planning. He holds a PhD degree in International Development Studies from Utrecht University - The Netherlands in 2015 and a Master’s Degree in Applied Statistics ; from Catholic University of Louvain-la Neuve, Belgium in 2007. In various professional trainings, he has been trained on Financial programming and Policies, Complex sample survey analysis, Quality Supervision on Postgraduate Studies, Impact evaluation.
Prior to his current position and teaching duties, he has been active in a variety of administrative and academic positions at University level : he served as the Dean of the school of Economics from December 2020 to December 2022, Vice-dean, Academic Secretary, NPT-053 Project Coordinator and the Coordinator of Evening program.
Dr. Joseph Nkurunziza has served on the Board of Directors of Imanzi Investment Company Ltd, Ecole Internationale des Parents de Butare (EIPB) and was the Chairperson of Board of Directors of Caisse d’Entraide de Butare (CEB). He participated in various conferences and consultancies related to development planning.
Dr. Joseph Nkurunziza worked as a Bank Manager at Bank’s People at its Branch of Kacyiru (Kigali-Rwanda) before joining the National University of Rwanda as Assistant Lecturer in Department of Economics in December 2002. He worked with Population, Reproductive Health and Economic Development (PopDev) project. Based on logistic models, Generalised Ordered Logit analysis, multilevel approach, Heckprobit models and Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detection (CHAID) analysis, he analyzed the impact of the Rwandan Policy on education (free education), social security (Community Based Health Insurance, VUP, Girinka program) and rural development (land use consolidation) on Human Capital Development.
Dr. Joseph Nkurunziza participated in the development of different national initiatives and policies regarding education, social security and rural development. In 2018, he completed an “Assessment of Rwanda’s Financial Sector as a Source of Finance of Economic Growth" for Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN) and National Bank for Rwanda (BNR). In February 2019, he produced the National Environmental Statistics Compendium for Rwanda for the Rwanda Environment Authority (REMA).
Currently, under the support of African Center of Excellence in Data Science, he is part of the
academic team assessing the retirement plans and strategies for the wellbeing of the retirees in Rwandan context.

Dr. Ignace GATARE currently serves as the Principal of the College of Science and Technology of the University of Rwanda. Prior to his appointment as Principal, Dr. GATARE served as the Director General of the Rwanda National Commission of Science and Technology (NCST), a public institution serving as a think-tank and advisory board to the Rwanda Government on issues pertaining to the development of science, technology, research, and innovation. He also served in the Government of Rwanda as Minister in Charge of Information and Communications Technology, from November 2009 until April 2012. He is currently a member of governing bodies of various national and international institutions and projects including :
* Chairman of Regulatory Board of Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority,
* Member of the joint advisory board of Carnegie Mellon University – Rwanda Campus.
* Member of the Advisory Committee of the GEONET project, an initiative of the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, UNITED KINGDOM
* Member of the steering committee of the Integrated Biological Control Applied Research Program (IBCARP), a project run by the International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Nairobi, KENYA
* Member of the Program Advisory Committee of BioInnovate Africa, ICIPE, Nairobi, KENYA

Dr. Gatare holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Sciences with specialization in Photonics from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).
