Erasmus+ capacity building

University of Rwanda (UR) is part of a consortium of 7 Higher Learning Institutions namely : 3 in Europe University of Parma (Italy), Rheinische Fachhochschule University of Applied Science Cologne - RFH (Germany), University of Liège (Belgium), 4 in Rwanda (University of Rwanda, Institute of Applied Sciences INES-Ruhengeri, IPRC Polytechnic School of Musanze, University of Art and Technology of Byumba).

This consortium is implemementing a project named  Enhancement of Rwandan higher education in strategic fields for sustainable growth ( EnRHEd) which started on 15/01/2020 and will end on 14/05/2024.

 

The project focuses on – Revision of current Curricula and the improving the didactic approach through the training of professors and staff in Rwanda ; - setting up of new Master and PhD programs ; - introducing e-learning and technological improvement through the implementation of a virtual platform ; - promoting internationalization of educational paths, based on exchanges that will develop in the mobility flows of Staff members and Students to and from Rwanda.

Thus, as the project is nearly its completion, the consortium has prepared an international workshop and proposed that it will be hosted at the University of Rwanda on Wednesday 30th August 2023 See the attached Program). The workshop is expected to host 150 delegates including different officials such as the Minister of Education, Head of EU delegation, different ambassadors (Italy, German, Belgium) and other Vice-Chancellors for the 7 Universities under the consortium.

The workshop intends to share the experiences of different actors who, at different academic levels, have participated or are preparing to participate in exchange actions between Rwandan and European higher education institutions in the framework of Erasmus+ projects.

In particular, it will take stock of the EnRHEd project, which is nearing its conclusion, and of the GREATER project, which is just started, to lay the foundations for strengthening cooperation, collaboration and exploitation activities in the fields of research, training, and teaching between European and Rwandan higher education institutions.
