New logo to strengthen UR’s visual identity

11-04-2019

As part of its broader identity program, UR has introduced a new logo that is now appearing on all banners for kwibuka 25 around campuses and other visibility materials.

The University of Rwanda has kept its UR letters but made it well designed and flatter with new fonts ; and colors to reflect a refreshed brand identity.

UR’s visual identity has been fragmented by a glut of inconsistent logo designs, typefaces, symbols and colors, administrators said. The goal of the project was to bring order out of this chaos in a way that will “enhance the association of UR with world-class quality through visual representation, and thus help to demonstrate the quality and breadth of the academic enterprise.”

Logo marks are essential to an institution’s visual identity, said Mike KARANGWA, Division Manager for University Communication. “UR is one of the most recognized and respected names in Rwanda and EAC higher education. A graphic identity that supports and enhances our reputation for excellence by projecting a consistent, high-quality and instantly recognizable visual image is vital.”

The new logo was designed by UR’s Communications office in partnership with Mr. Herve IRANKUNDA (alumni).
