Study in Europe Event
1. Context and Objective

In the past years, a large number of Rwandans have already benefited from various opportunities and scholarships to study in Europe through different schemes set up by different EU member states and the European Union. However, the number of Rwandans who have managed to benefit from these opportunities is not satisfactory given the multiple personal, academic and societal benefit of such exchanges.

The EU Delegation in Rwanda, EU Member States present in Kigali and other EU Member States countries not represented in Kigali in partnership with the University of Rwanda, is organising an event to jointly promote various opportunities and scholarships offered by EU Members states and the EU (through the Erasmus+ programme) to study in Europe.

The objective of the study in Europe Event is to raise awareness and support access of Rwandan students and institutions to the different opportunities offered by the EU MS and the EU for academic exchanges. These opportunities include exchanges programmes between EU based universities and Rwandan universities, scholarships and even capacity-building actions, benefitting students from bachelor to PhD level, lecturers and other university staff.

The purpose of this concept note is to map out the event and to constitute a basis for circulating this information to stakeholders in the action and students from different universities in Rwanda. UR Career guidance offices from different UR colleges and campuses will be key in disseminating this information to students.

The event is open to all students and academicians from all public and private universities in Rwanda. The targeted audience are students (Bachelor, Master, PhD), University lecturers and staff.

2. Programme and Approach
It will be organised as a virtual event through web streaming. Links to the event and sessions organized under the event are shared here :

2.3. Facilitation and Co-facilitation
The programme will be web streamed through a web stream app to be identified by EUD, in liaison with UR. With the participation of 5 EU MS in Kigali and 3 other MS not present in Kigali, the event will be organized in an opening, a general introduction module for each programme (based on short videos), followed by 3 parallel Q&A sessions – where EU MS and EUD experts would engage directly with the students and answer questions or discuss on the different study programmes that Rwandans could qualify for. The latter sessions will be moderated with a view to ensure that questions raised in the chat functions are addressed and that all participants in a session are able to provide information on their programmes.

2.4. Presenting Participants
Each presenting MS should prepare a max 8 minutes presentation video that include all relevant information on the opportunities offered and short testimonial videos from their alumni. The videos will be shared in advance and hosted on the UR and EUD websites for. Each presenting participant MS is required to avail an expert that will be responsible for the Q&A session.
