UR Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship organized a three-day training workshop at UR Gikondo Campus. This training workshop gathers UR staff involved in innovation projects, their local and Swedish partners and UR Staff involved in Innovation Management. The training aims to support stakeholders to strengthen team building and leadership while focusing on developing the expected innovations. The training session which is divided in the forms of lectures, group discussions and management exercises brought participants to discuss and share experience on how to promote team building for social innovation.

Participants’ group discussions

Dr Emile Bienvenue Director of the Centre while facilitating the workshop reminded participants to build a bigger team and find a strategy on how to have a common goal and a common understanding on how to deliver on these innovations. He invited them to translate research into action and involve end users at the early stage in order to reach a tangible solution.

As a practical side of project innovation, Dr. Aimable Mugarura presented a Hand out Prototype Project entitled “Rwanda folk dance fitness : innovating the Rwandan dance industry for sport, health and youth employment purpose”. The project listened to the concerns of women over 35 years’ old who were complaining about a lack of sports facilities due to the cultural barriers. The translational research met the project’s objective of availing for those women a cultural friendly sport alternative produced in a 10 minutes’ video.
