UR to host prestigious IAU 2025-International Association of Universities conference in Kigali

The International Association of Universities (IAU), a globally recognized organization comprising over 600 higher education institutions and organizations, has selected the University of Rwanda (UR) to host the IAU 2025 Conference. This honor reflects UR’s growing influence and dedication to advancing global higher education.
A delegation from the University of Rwanda is currently in Tokyo, Japan, participating in the IAU 2024 Conference, hosted by Sophia University from November 22–24, 2024, as part of their preparation for hosting the 2025 edition of the event. The delegation, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kayihura Muganga Didas, is pitching Rwanda as an ideal destination for global academic dialogue and learning best practices to ensure the successful hosting of the IAU 2025 Conference. The event was also graced by the presence of H.E Marie Claire Mukasine, Ambassador of Rwanda in Japan.
In collaboration with Rwanda Convention Bureau - RCB UR expressed its interest in hosting this prestigious gathering of approximately 400 attendees from 82 countries, a proposal that was reviewed and unanimously accepted by the Board of the IAU, cementing UR’s position as a leader in global higher education collaboration.
The IAU 2025 Conference, scheduled for October 2025, is anticipated to further elevate Rwanda’s reputation as a global academic hub and a model of international cooperation. The University of Rwanda is committed to delivering a world-class event that will attract thought leaders and academics from around the world while positioning Rwanda as a destination for high-profile international gatherings.
