Visit of Professor Karl-Heinz Frank Reichert to University of Rwanda

Professor Karl-Heinz Frank Reichert, Rector of University of Agder (UiA) and Professor of Mobile Systems paid a visit to the University of Rwanda on Friday 15th February, 2019. During his visit he met with its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Philip Cotton and the two leaders discussed the current collaboration between their universities which dates back from 2011, when University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science signed an MoU on Cooperation with former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology. Through this MoU, which was revalidated in 2014 after the creation of UR, 3 staff of UR are pursuing their PhD at UiA), 12 have finished their Masters of Science (5 in ICT and 7 in Renewable Energy), guest-lectures by UiA staff took place in 2015 , 2016 and 2017, one-week hands-on training on creation of blended learning courses was organized at UR in 2018, UiA supported the preparation of application for African Centre for Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development, etc. The University of Agder in Collaboration with University of Rwanda and Makerere University successfully applied for a Euro 0.5M grant for a project titled “Enhancing Quality and Internationalisation of Study Programmes Through Mobile Transformative Pedagogy”

The visit of Professor Karl-Heinz Frank Reichert, Rector of University of Agder (UiA), was an opportunity to officially launch this project and to sign a new MoU between UR and UiA.

Prof. Reichert was accompanied by Associate Professor Ghislain Maurice Norbert Isabwe, Associate Professor of Multimedia & eLearning and Dr. Samantha Page, Senior Advisor on Internationalisation.
