UR gets new Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning and Administration

On 16th July 2022 the President of the Republic of Rwanda appointed two senior leaders in the University of Rwanda. The new appointment communiqué placed Dr. Didas Kayihura Muganga as the Ag. Vice Chancellor while Dr. Raymond Ndikumana was named the new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning and Administration.

The two newly appointees took over office duties from the outgoing Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof Nosa O. Egiebor who continues to serve the University as the DVC for Academic Affairs and Research. Dr. Ndikumana assumed his new role from Dr. Papias Musafiri who has been in the office for the last 4 years.

The handover ceremony took place on Monday, July 18th, 2022 and was presided over by Hon. Minister of Education Dr. Valentine Uwamariya.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Kayihura pledged to build on what has already been achieved and promote what is already in place visible.

“I can promise that I am going to unreservedly dedicate my time, energy, and skills to the advancement of the cause, interest, and vision of what the world and the country of Rwanda wants from UR, he said.

In his remarks Dr. Raymond Ndikumana, the new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning and Administration promised to engage people towards the successes of the University.

“I hope that with the support of my colleagues, we will work together and have an Institution that really values people,”said Dr. Ndikumana.

Dr. Kayihura left UR five years ago and is now coming back with a promise to add a stone on what has been built and lead UR, the only Public Higher Learning Institution towards the expectations of the Public.
