I am delighted to welcome you to 2021 UR Graduation Ceremony, the 9th at the National Police College, to celebrate the fruitful efforts of our students and devoted staff. I salute the twenty-seven (27) graduands. To the entire cohort of thirty-one (31) students who participated, I say thank you for the best and conduct and good effort.

Even before graduating, you have been winners right from the time you were selected to attend the course. And right from the outset, let me express our sincere thanks to the sister African countries which have had confidence in our college. Our ambition is to grow the numbers flowing in from our continent, and that calls for steady improvement on our part, a task we are well braced for.

The graduation ceremony is the most significant and meaningful occasion in the University’s calendar, particularly for our NPC Graduands. Graduation too is a memorable ceremony where hard work by you esteemed students is colourfully appreciated. It is as well an opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to parents, friends, families, and government of Rwanda. Special thanks to other sponsors who sacrificed valuable resources to stand with us in this noble cause – the attainment of Master of Arts in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation course. Congratulations to you beloved.

The University of Rwanda applauds you for having done tremendously well to deserve the full honours. We are sincerely happy for you for reaching this milestone. Our confidence in you going out there to deliver better is high, because we have strong belief in the knowledge imparted into you, dear graduands, over the last one year. Deservingly we now celebrate together this achievement, which is an end of one journey, but also happens to mark the beginning of a more important and even longer journey of life in service. New beginnings in life are usually filled with hope for a better future. This is certainly true now after here, owing to your newly acquired knowledge and skills to help you excel in your profession.

Qualifying for master’s degree is a great achievement ! You have also achieved much more in terms of personal development. While the personal skills that come with your increased capacity will stand you in much stronger position to positively impact situations you will face, how you have also grown attitude and character wise shall determine your professional effectiveness.

We wish you the best for the future as you carry the flag of the leading university of quality, relevance, and impact in Rwanda. Go and make the University of Rwanda proud through your relentless contribution to peace building and conflict management. The knowledge you have acquired here naturally leads you to thirsting for even more knowledge. In a way this has raised your appetite for greater things because you have discovered new abilities in you.

Once again, I congratulate you all and wish you the very best in your career endeavors !
